The year ahead looks to be an exciting one in terms of major milestones involving Wyoming’s culture. The Wyoming office of Tourism lists a variety of anniversaries, straight out of the history books. Of note are the 175th anniversary of the Oregon Trail; the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad through Laramie, Hanna, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Green River and Evanston; the 150th anniversary of the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie; the 150th anniversaryof mining in Wyoming at South Pass City; the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act; the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act; 50 years of the Trappers Point Historical Site and the 40th anniversary of the designation of the Continental Divide Trail.
