Distress Call Alerts Deputies to Attempted Murder
On October 2, 2023, Teton County Sheriff’s deputies responded swiftly to a distress call emanating from a residence in Victor, Idaho. The initial investigatory detention resulted in the arrest of Teton Valley resident Luna Nicoya Phaedra Serrano for attempted murder, after the deputies found her detained by Derek Hawkes, whom she’s accused of injuring.
Attempted Murder Charges Filed
The three-count Criminal Complaint against Serrano paints a serious picture. She is accused of committing Aggravated Battery against Hawkes on September 17, 2023. This initial charge stems from an incident where Serrano allegedly used scissors as a weapon against Hawkes. If convicted, this could lead to a 15-year prison sentence and a fine.
The second count alleges Serrano broke into Hawkes’ residence with the intent of committing a more severe crime. This is further compounded by the third count, which stems from a scene of extreme violence. The attempted murder charge claims Serrano attempted to kill Hawkes by inflicting multiple stab wounds on him.
Her court appearance ended in a stringent bail ruling, to ensure community safety, and reflect the gravity of the charges.
DUI Charge in Sublette County
Earlier this summer, Serrano was reportedly charged with DUI in Sublette County, Wyoming where she was facing up to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to 10000 dollars. She reportedly had 5 prior DUI convictions since 2016.
