The Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance is launching an initiative to protect bighorn sheep by educating the public on the importance of respecting wildlife closures. They are setting up outreach tables at busy trailheads and are looking for help.
Starting Tuesday, February 6th, and continuing until April 2nd, the Alliance is inviting volunteers to join in their “Don’t Poach the Powder” campaign. The goal is to inform hikers and skiers about the critical need to stay out of areas closed for wildlife protection. These closures are crucial for the survival and health of bighorn sheep populations in the area.

The Alliance is looking for volunteers available to work shifts from 10 am to 1 pm to engage with the public, share information about bighorn sheep, and explain why respecting closed areas is essential for these animals’ wellbeing.
In appreciation of your time and effort, all volunteers will receive a t-shirt and hat, along with snacks and drinks. It’s a great way to meet like-minded individuals, contribute to a meaningful cause, and spend time outdoors in some of Jackson Hole’s most beautiful settings.
