The Yellowstone Volcano Observatory reports the National Park experienced two significant swarms of earthquakes in November.
A moderate group of 14 quakes shook an area east-northeast of West Yellowstone, Montana between November 14th and 27th. The largest tremor in that swarm was measured at a magnitude of 1.3 on the Richter scale.
A cluster of 60 earthquakes occurred over two days beginning November 26th about 14 miles north-northeast of Old Faithful. The most powerful quake of the month was magnitude 1.8 occurred on the morning of November 26.
Groups of earthquakes are common in Yellowstone are considered normal and observers say the volcano alert level is considered normal.
