Snowfall Helps Snowpack, Need More
The weekend snowstorm has definitely helped a number of the river drainages around Wyoming, but snowpack is still significantly low across the state. According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the state’s median snowpack at this time last year was 112% of normal while this year it remains at only 76%. In Northwestern Wyoming, the report Monday showed the snowpack had increased to 91% in the Snake River Basin, 99% in the Madison-Gallatin Basin in Yellowstone, and 81% of normal in the Wind River Basin which includes Togwotee Pass.
