The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole has announced this year’s plans for the 24th Annual Old Bill’s Fun Run for Charities – and it won’t resemble what the community is used to. First of all, the valley’s many charities will still gather… but separately. On Saturday, September 12, dispersed Old Bill’s gatherings will be held at four designated venues around the valley. At each location, festivities will begin with the National Anthem and banter from Run Day emcees, followed by a celebratory airplane banner flyover. A team of drone photographers will film the festivities from the sky. The run itself will also take place in a dispersed fashion. Participants will be encouraged to independently run/hike/bike/walk the 5K of their choice out of the routes provided at oldbills.org. Diaper Derby participants will be invited to crawl a shorter distance this year. A culminating video featuring photos and video footage submitted by “Run Day” participants will be shared on the Community Foundation’s website and social media channels during the final week of giving. The dispersed nature of the event this year is intended to ensure the safety and welfare of the community due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The Community Foundation will host an interactive, online meeting on oldbills.org for local nonprofits Wednesday from 10:00 -10:30 am to provide an overview of the modified events, and an opportunity for questions. Foundation President Laurie Andrews points out that this year will be the most crucial fundraising effort in the event’s 24-year history. Many local nonprofits are facing severe budget cuts because of COVID-19.
