Wyoming Department of Transportation is considering a proposal to reduce the speed limit on Teton Pass from 55 to 45 mph. The change was requested by the Teton County Commission and Teton Backcountry Alliance after a study was completed in July 2020, out of concern about safety at the top of the pass where recreationists and motorists interact during the winter when people park there to ski. The proposed reduction also takes into consideration the grade and tight curves over the pass. Meanwhile, as the result of an earlier study requested by the Teton County Commission, the speed between Emily’s Pond and Spring Gulch Road is to be set at 55 mph year around.
