Starting December 1, 2024, the Adams-Wilson Canyon Trail south of Jackson will close for the winter to protect wildlife during the challenging colder months. The closure, which lasts until May 1, 2025, at 6:00 a.m., is part of Teton County’s seasonal wildlife management efforts and involves coordination with the Jackson Hole Land Trust, Teton County, and the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
During winter, wildlife must conserve energy and rely on limited food sources to survive. Deep snowpack and human disturbance can add unnecessary stress to animals, particularly big game species in crucial winter ranges. The closure prohibits all human and dog activity in these areas.
For those seeking alternative recreation options, Teton County provides a plowed multi-use pathway along South Highway 89. Additional winter-use routes are open on the Bridger-Teton National Forest, including Game Creek and Cache Creek.
