The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Grand Teton National Park, and Bridger-Teton National Forest together are seeking to mitigate conflicts in bear country, but success, they point out, can only be achieved with the support of local communities.
Of particular interest, Grizzly bear 399 will soon emerge from her den with four offspring, who are now at the age they will likely disperse this spring. Having been introduced to potential food sources south of Grand Teton National Park, it is possible they may roam that direction as they set out on their own.
The four cooperating agencies are inviting members of the media to join them on Wednesday for a media roundtable to discuss agency roles and management options.
The roundtable is taking place at the Lodge at Jackson Hole Conference Center on Broadway. Space is anticipated to be tight, so those wishing to attend should RSVP.
