Passenger traffic at Jackson Hole Airport continued to lag during August, while still improving by just a few points. The number of passengers catching flights out of the valley during the month were 37% behind last year’s number – however, an improvement from the 51% decline seen last month. Those arriving were 41% fewer than during August a year ago, but a slight improvement over July’s 46% decline. Altogether, enplanements so far this year are down 43% and deplanements down 44%. Concurrently, the number of flights in and out of the valley last month was 21% fewer than the same month last year, with a large part of that due to the lack of any flights from Frontier Airlines and United Express. Each year, September sees a seasonal drop in the number of flights serving Jackson Hole, remaining that way through December. This winter season, Jackson Hole will be served by a fourth airline joining with the existing three to provide service to 14 cities nationwide.
