This month’s report from Jackson Hole Airport reveals statistics that reflect not surprisingly a dramatic drop in air travel. According to the report to the airport board, the number of people arriving by air in Jackson Hole were 87% fewer than they were one year ago and the number of those catching flights out of the valley declined by 88%. Specifically, 3,004 air travelers deplaned here last month compared with 22,302 during the same month last year. Still fewer flew out of the valley. The number of flights available also were reduced in response to the lost business, declining by 41% during the month. Year-to-date, air travel in and out of Jackson Hole is down more than 30%. However, as health restrictions relax, air travel is expected to pick back up, and the flights serving 11 major cities nationwide will begin again in July.
