The Jackson Hole Airport Board and staff have released a greenhouse gas emissions inventory report during the May Airport Board meeting.
The Airport partnered with Mead & Hunt to study and inventory 2017 CO2 emissions associated with airport activity and operations at the airport to align with the Town of Jackson’s emissions inventory baseline study.
The report indicated that only 1.4% of CO2 emissions were from the Airport directly, while the remaining emissions where the result of aircraft operations and ground transportation.
Jackson Hole Airport Director Jim Elwood points out that the airport has a strong commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of the facility on the surrounding ecosystem.
Elwood adds that by continuing to work to reduce carbon emissions and invest in green initiatives here, the facility continues to lay the groundwork to be a model for other airports to follow and to be a leader in sustainability.
