We are in the heart of the holidays now and the celebrations continue through early next week. Officer Nathan Karns of the Jackson Police Department says for some, there has been a rough start to the holidays with a head-on collision on highway 22 and a roll-over north of town before Christmas. Officer Karns points out that if alcohol is involved in your celebrations, planning ahead can prevent a lot of problems. He says, “Having a buddy, having a friend – typically if you’re going out, you’re going to be going out with people – stick with your friends, stick with your group (safety in numbers as it were) and you’ll be able to get home safe at night.” Officer Karns adds that depending on the level of inebriation, walking home might not be a viable option either since there have been cases of impaired people losing their way or behaving badly on their way home. Those who are not with a group may opt to call for a taxi.
