A film festival is coming to Jackson that will feature mountain films about women.
The Teton Climbers’ Coalition’s inaugural AlpinFilm will debut January 6-7, 2023, Jackson Hole Playhouse.
The two-day festival is modeled on The Alpinist Film Festival, which ran from 2004-2008 and attracted more than 2,000 audience members at its peak.
Like The Alpinist Film Festival, AlpinFilm will feature mountain films from around the world with an emphasis on cinematographic storytelling.
TCC chairman Christian Beckwith said that AlpinFilm explores the reasons we embark on adventures in the first place.
The festival’s first event will coincide with the one-hundreth aniversarry of the first female ascent of the Grand Teton. AlpinFilm’s 2023 program will feature films that explore the past, present, and future of women in the mountains.
All proceeds from AlpinFilm will underwrite the work of The Teton Climbers’ Coalition, a 501c3 non-profit organization that stewards, advocates and engages on behalf of the Teton climbing community.
