Alta residents will soon get to enjoy tennis, basketball, and pickleball if a grant application to the 2023 Wyoming Land and Water Conservation Fund is successful.
Teton County’s Board of Commissioners approved the submission of a grant application to get funds for some long-awaited improvements to the Alta Park.
This grant would allow two tennis courts, half-court basketball, and two pickleball courts to be constructed at the same time. This will decrease overall costs by only requiring one construction mobilization, material sourcing, and labor allocation. The total grant amount is $200,000, with a match from the County in the amount of $300,000. This project is planned to be completed in FY24.
Alta Park was designed approximately 20 years ago by Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation, Teton County Public Works, and the Alta Community.
The original design included a playground, walking path, a picnic shelter with restroom, open space, and sports courts.
Most of the park was constructed in the early 2000s, except for the sports courts, which were to be constructed at a later date when money became available.
The Alta Sports Courts Project was approved in the Parks and Recreation FY 24 budget.
