With fresh winter storms dropping over two feet of snow in the last 48 hours, and another blast expected overnight, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is excited to announce conditions in Corbet’s Couloir are prime, preserved and ready for hosting the highly-anticipated Kings and Queens of Corbet’stomorrow morning, February 12. Assessing current and forecasted weather conditions within the designated six-day competition window through February 16, Resort officials anticipate Tuesday as the most promising opportunity to welcome 24 of world’s top freeride skiers and snowboarders to the legendary run in hopes of crowning a new King and Queen of Corbet’s.
“We’ve been closely watching the weather all month and monitoring Corbet’s conditions working hand-in-hand with our team of Patrol, Mountain Operations and Park & Pipe staff to conduct a safe and successful Kings & Queens,” reports JHMR Events and Partnership Manager, Jess McMillian. “The athletes are here and excited to compete in the Couloir and understand event status remains weather and conditions dependent within this storm cycle,” McMillan states.
A list of competing athletes, including big mountain names like Aaron Blunk, Hana Beaman, and Travis Rice are set take to the top of the Couloir before an additional pulse calling for another 30” of snow is expected to accumulate by weeks end. JHMR will regularly update the status of event as conditions change at https://www.jacksonhole.com/kings-queens-corbets.html and on JHMR’s social channels in accordance with the event. Kings & Queens of Corbet’s event viewing will take place below the Couloir, in Tensleep Bowl, and the competition is expected to start at approximately 10 a.m. JHMR reminds spectators; there is no accessible beginner or intermediate terrain from the spectator venue down to the bottom of the mountain.
Kings and Queens of Corbet’s is supported by GoPro, Smartwool, Gortex, Yeti and Red Bull bringing together some of the world’s best action sports networks, products and athletes to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Freeskier is hosting the official Kings and Queens after-party Saturday, February 16 at the Pink Garter Theatre, in downtown Jackson, where the winners of the competition will be crowned at 9:15 pm.
