Yet another grizzly bear in the area north of Pinedale has been trapped and relocated. After consultation with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured and relocated a sub-adult female grizzly bear on July 31st and relocated it to the Buffalo Fork River drainage approximately 12 miles east of Moran.
The bear had not been involved in a conflict but was captured while mitigating cattle depredation north of Pinedale as a precautionary measure. Bears that are considered a threat to human safety are NOT relocated.
Game and Fish continues to stress the importance of the public’s responsibility in bear management and the importance of keeping all attractants unavailable to bears. Reducing attractants available to bears reduces human-bear conflicts.
