Arrest made in thefts

A juvenile male has been arrested and is being investigated in connection with a series of thefts this week in the town parking structure and vandalism nearby. According to a news release from the Jackson Police Department, the thefts took place between 10:30 pm July 19th and 12:30 am July 20th.
Detectives reviewing video from the parking garage saw a male juvenile walking a dog enter and take items from unlocked cars. One of the unlawfully entered cars was also scratched from a key or other sharp object. About the same time, a construction site on the east side of the parking structure had equipment vandalized.
Approximately 2 hours later, a subject who appears to be the same person, was seen on the video returning to the parking garage without the dog and entering an unlocked 2019 black Nissan Armada, and then taking the car without authorization. The vehicle was recovered on North Cache Street at approximately 10:30 am on the 20th.
While detectives were on-scene processing the stolen Armada, a male who resembled the suspect seen on the video was spotted walking down an alley adjacent the parking lot where the Armada was found. Detectives immediately detained him for questioning, and after further investigation, he was taken into custody.
