Astoria Hot Springs Reopening

September 8, 2020 by Jackson Hole Radio

Astoria Park

Astoria Park Conservancy and The Trust for Public Land has announced the opening of Astoria Hot Springs following the completion of the first phase of construction improvements at the park. The park’s reopening has been years in the making, and in addition to the mineral hot springs, other park amenities planned for the initial opening include picnic areas and gathering spaces, facilities for private event rental, and a grab-and-go snack shack. Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, only residents living in Teton County, Wyoming, Teton County, Idaho, Sublette County, Wyoming and Star Valley will be able to visit Astoria at this time, will be required. Astoria Hot Springs and Park is owned and operated by Astoria Park Conservancy, a local non-profit whose mission is to connect our community through inspiring experiences in nature that improve livability, health and well-being. Astoria Park Conservancy’s Executive Director Paige Byron Curry says hundreds of supporters believed in the dream to re-open the hot springs as an affordable public park for the community. Astoria Hot Springs and Park is a multi-phase project that began in 2012 with The Trust for Public Land’s efforts to regain public access to the area. In 2016, the future park site was purchased and the hot springs designed with input from 2,000 residents. Astoria Park Conservancy was founded in 2018 as the long-term owner of the park.
