Auto Burglaries Hail Holiday Headaches

Burglaries from vehicles often increase this time of year as people enter the most active buying period of the season. All too often, we make the crime far too easy for the burglar. Jackson Hole Crimestoppers urges Christmas shoppers not to leave Christmas purchases in plain sight in vehicles as they spend the day going into various stores. Most of all, be sure the vehicle is locked when leaving it unattended. At home, make sure packages are taken inside as quickly as possible. If delivered to the door, arrange for a neighbor to put them in a safe place while you are at work or away. Keep any major purchases out of sight until they are to be presented, and keep the receipts for all major purchases in a safe place along with the serial numbers if possible. Finally, Crimestoppers urges anyone seeing suspicious activity around a home or car should report it immediately at 733-2331.
