An autopsy today of the body found Sunday and believed to be that of 22-year-old Gabrielle Petito could formally confirm the identity of the deceased person located by searchers in the Spread Creek dispersed camping area, and also provide a cause of death. Petito had been the subject of a nationwide search, with its primary focus in Grand Teton National Park, since she was reported missing on September 11th. Petito had been traveling to a variety of national parks in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, camping in their converted van along the way. Petito was reported missing by her mother who stopped receiving regular calls from her daughter, and learned Laundrie showed up September first at his home in North Port, Florida alone in Petito’s van. A search is underway for Laundrie now who left his home September 14th.
