Bear Lake County, Idaho is reporting another avalanche death in the region – this one on Saturday in the area of Sherman Peak south of Soda Springs.
According to a news release from the county, 48-year-old Allen Foss of Preston had been snowmobiling with two others when the avalanche triggered and buried him. Search and Rescue units from Bear Lake County, Caribou County and Franklin County were activated and responded to the area.
Foss had succumbed to injuries sustained in the slide and was deceased when located. Authorities throughout the region stress the current danger of snow conditions in the mountains and urge extreme caution.
