Search and rescue officials are urging Wyoming outdoor adventurers to obtain BackcountrySOS if they don’t already have it. This FREE app for your smartphone provides first responders with your condition and an exact location during an emergency.
All you need is a single bar of cellular service, making it better than a text, and can be used when you don’t have enough cell service for a voice call.
BackcountrySOS is available in two counties in Idaho, one in Montana, and six in Wyoming including Teton, Park and Sweetwater counties on the western side of the state.
Free access to the BackcountrySOS app is made possible by the generous support of the Teton County Search & Rescue Foundation as part of their BackcountyZero project.
