Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) has been elected by Senate Republicans to serve as the Assistant Majority Leader, or Majority Whip, for the upcoming 119th Congress. Barrasso expressed gratitude to the people of Wyoming for their support, as well as appreciation to his colleagues for their trust in his leadership.
In his statement, Barrasso emphasized the responsibility of the new Republican majority to address voter priorities. He outlined a focused agenda that includes reducing costs for Americans, strengthening border security, enhancing national security, and expanding domestic energy production.
With the Republican majority in the Senate and the collaboration of President Trump, Barrasso indicated that the new leadership aims to bring what he describes as “a new direction” in line with the expressed priorities of voters.
