New hires were announced this week in the Jackson Hole High School basketball programs.
Activities Director Mike Hansen confirmed both the boys and girls head coach positions were filled with the hiring of Hayden Hatfield to head the boys high school program, and Andrea Joyce will take over for the Lady Broncs.
Hatfield heads boys
Coach Hatfield comes most recently from Meadowcreek High School in Georgia where he was the associate head coach. He has also coached at Troy University, Mercer University, and Rome High School. Hatfield plans to arrive in Jackson in early June to get his first look at the team and begin running off-season camps.
Coach Hatfield is excited about being our basketball coach and will bring a lot of energy to the program,” Hansen said.
Hatfield will take over for Sam Lunz, who stepped down after five seasons at the helm, leading the Broncs to a 23-84 record during that time.
Joyce leads girls
Coach Joyce has coached at Jackson Hole Middle School, Mountain Home Middle School in Arkansas, Doherty High School in Colorado, and Battle Mountain High School in Colorado.
Joyce, whose husband David coaches the Broncs football team, is ready to hit the ground running. Hansen commented on her energy and leadership.
She has already met with some players and coaches this week about her vision for Lady Broncs basketball moving forward.
Joyce takes over the high school basketball program from Jason Huggins. Under Huggins, the girls went 5-36 in two seasons.
Both the boys and girls have struggled since jumping up to the 4A in 2017.
