A surprise encounter a trail outside Glacier National Park led to the death of a federal law enforcement officer yesterday.
38 year-old Brad Treat, who worked for the Forest Service, was mountain biking with a friend on a forest trail near West Glacier when they apparently surprised a bear at about 2pm.
Authorities have closed off a large part of the area while they search for the bear about 3 miles from Glacier’s west entrance.
