The Beartooth Highway northeast of Yellowstone National Park finally reopened Friday the full extent between Cooke City and Red Lodge Montana.
While there was extensive damage on the Montana side of U.S. 212, the Wyoming side was safe enough that it partially reopened on June 27th, but motorists had to turn around at the top.
Earlier, heavy snows had delayed the seasonal opening by several weeks, and then flash flooding in Yellowstone and southern Montana forced its closure within days.
While the Beartooth Highway may be accessible over the entire pass now, there are still daily closures on the Wyoming side for construction.
Scheduled construction to improve the safety of the road will require it to be closed from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am Monday through Thursday.
