The man whose body was discovered last Wednesday in the Gallatin River in Yellowstone National Park has been identified as 29-year-old Dane Offutt of Big Sky, Montana. On October 6th, an abandoned vehicle had been found on U.S. Highway 191 near mile marker 29 in the park. Then on October 7th, a missing person was reported to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office. The missing person matched the description of the possible driver of the abandoned vehicle and a search was initiated. Offutt’s body was found on October 10th. The coroner has not yet established an exact cause of death.
