The 43rdAnnual World Championship Hill Climb takes place this weekend in Jackson, and that will spell difficult travel in the vicinity of Snow King Mountain for the next five days. Beginning tonightat 7:00 pm, the Town of Jackson will close Snow King Avenue between Flat Creek Drive and King Street through Sunday night. Cache Street will also be closed between Snow King Avenue and Aspen Drive. Town Spokesman Carl Peletier explains that due to the impressive amount of snow the town has received this year, snow storage at the Fairgrounds is taking up space traditionally utilized to park large trailers for the Hill Climb. Furthermore, the on-going construction project taking place at the Fairgrounds is also occupying space traditionally used for trailer parking during the Hill Climb. To top it off, the streets in town have become narrower this winter due to the amount of snow and ice at the curbs, also increasing challenges for traffic and parking. Because of these unusual circumstances, the Town Council approved an expanded street closure for this year’s Hill Climb. People traveling in the southern part of town are advised to take the closures into consideration and plan alternate routes.
