The Wyoming Senate has killed the latest attempt to repeal the death penalty.
Bills to repeal the death penalty have come up each of the past several legislative sessions.
This year’s measure died Thursday with a vote of 19-11. Proponents maintain the state could save about $1/4 million a year by not having capital punishment.
Wyoming is one of 28 states that still allow the death penalty. However, nobody has been put to death in Wyoming since 1992.
