Game wardens from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured a brown-colored black bear in east Jackson Tuesday afternoon. Spokesman Mark Gocke says the bear is six to seven years old and looks like the pictures people have been sending Game and Fish of a bear they have seen in the Cache Creek area. Gocke says the bear had been acting pretty bold and going up onto residents’ porches; and even had begun getting into conflicts with dogs. However, he says the bear had not yet accessed human food. The bear was captured about 4:30 pm near the corner of Redman and Snow King, and had been seen roaming the neighborhoods around Nelson and Rancher Streets as well. Gocke says Game and Fish will coordinate with National Forest officials about relocating the bear someplace some distance from town so that it is less likely to return.
