The Bridger-Teton National Forest and Grand Teton Association are hosting an art sale in conjunction with the Teton Plein Air painters to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (Act). Make a splash and join the special celebration to commemorate protection of rivers.
Painting demonstration by the Teton Plein Air artists are happening at Pritchard Boat Launch Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 9 AM– 12 PM, 1 PM-3 PM, in the Snake River Canyon amidst the incredible fall colors on the National Forest. Demonstrations will be ongoing on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 on the Bridger-Teton at Elbow Boat Launch in the Snake River Canyon from 9 AM-12 PM, 1 PM-3 PM.
The Forest is also hosting a Community Celebration event on October 6, 2018 at the Forest Headquarters at 340 N. Cache in Jackson, WY from 11 AM – 2 PM. Wild and Scenic River activities and education, food trucks, booths, and an hourly raffle are available. Ride your bike, or submit an art or writing entry to get a raffle ticket.
The Act is notable for protecting the free-flow of water, water quality, and outstanding fishery, wildlife, recreation, scenic, cultural, and geological values associated with certain rivers, while also recognizing appropriate use and development. The Bridger-Teton National Forest is the managing agency for over 300 miles of designated Wild and Scenic Rivers in the Upper Snake River headwaters, one of the largest systems of interconnected protected river systems in the nation.
