Last weekend in Evanston, the Lady Broncs were dominated by the Lady Devils, scoring just 16 points. This past Saturday, the Lady Broncs managed just 15 against the Cody Fillies on their way to their worst defeat of the season, 61-15.
For the boys, it was another Groundhog Day Saturday. Like they did last week against Evanston, Jackson erased a double-digit deficit to close within a possession against Cody. And, like last week, a last-second shot for Jackson that could have won or tied the game, did not find the cylinder as Jackson lost another heartbreaker, 64-62.
Again, it was the Brunner brothers who got the Broncs back in it last weekend with triples. Freshman Seb Brunner drained four treys enroute to his 14 on the afternoon. Senior Gavin Brunner waited until the 4th quarter when he knocked down three straight 3-pointers to help Jackson close within a bucket.
It was the Broncs best game of the season from beyond the arc as freshman Gavin Keelin also added four from distance on the way to a team-high 18 points to go along with 7 boards. First-year man Andrew Hanna also pulled down 7 rebounds to go with his 9 points.
Cody’s Luke Talich led all scorers with 19 points.
The girls were led in scoring Audrey Fouras’ 5. Karsen Breeding added 4. Jacie Chatham was held off the score sheet but managed to grab 7 rebounds.
The game was broadcast on KZ95 and live-streamed on SVI. The girls and boys both now own a 1-11 record.
