It was another familiar story for the Jackson Broncs basketballers as they traversed the pass to finish a makeup game with the Teton Timberwolves.
Jackson was within striking distance to start the 4th quarter, trailing 31-25. But Teton found another gear and eight minutes the Broncs were again looking at a game that got away.
The 56-38 final was less lopsided than it looks on paper. Still, the end result is another loss for a team now 1-8 on the season. Teton’s full court pressure created havoc in the final frame, allowing the home town T-Wolves to expand their lead off turnovers.
The raucous crowd loved every minute of it even when the game became a tedious parade to the free throw line for the final three minutes.
The loss was not without some silver lining. Henry Berezay is back in the lineup wearing a brace on the left knee after missing last week’s game with Green River to injury.
The future looks bright for the Broncs as well. Three core players are freshmen and presumably around for the long haul. The front court future is in good hands with Andrew Hanna and Gavin Keelin. Freshman Seb Brunner is a shifty point guard getting better with every minute he plays.
Jackson plays Evanston this Saturday. Girls tap at 2:00 p.m., boys begin immediately following at approximately 3:30 p.m. Both games will be carried by KZ95.
