The exact cause of the July 2nd fire at Café Genevieve may never be determined. That’s according to Lieutenant Roger Schultz of the Jackson Police Department who says one key witness remains to be interviewed, but is not accessible to do so. Lt. Schultz says a thorough investigation was conducted by the Jackson Police Department and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS aided by arson investigators from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Despite all those efforts, he says the exact cause of the blaze could not be conclusively established, and the fire has been classified as “undetermined.” Lt. Shultz says all that is known at this point is that the fire started on the outside of the building. Despite investigators being at an impasse, the case will remain open. However, Lt. Schultz says this should not interfere with the business from moving ahead from here.
