Andrew Byron is running for Teton County Commissioner. Here is his candidate statement for JacksonHole.Media:
Jackson Hole has been home for 33 wonderful years. I attended Wilson School, Jackson Hole Middle School, Jackson Hole High School, and earned a BS in Political Science from the University of Wyoming in 2008. Growing up in this valley has helped me realize the responsibilities that come with living in this community, and as such I have dedicated much of my time and energy to supporting the community and landscape that has defined my life so fundamentally. I am a passionate conservationist, river enthusiast, active non-profit board member, volunteer firefighter, high school ski coach, and local small business owner. In sum, I am a proud community member who wants to bring his work ethic and perspective to our county government.
Being engaged in these different aspects of Teton County and the life within it has emphasized the importance of sustainability, both in regards to our physical landscape as well as the livelihoods of our residents and their businesses. It is incumbent on today’s politicians to preserve our county for future generations’ enjoyment while being realistic about the current needs of our community. With this balance in mind, I promise to be thoughtful about the future of Teton County while working hard to make the tough decisions today.
