Car chase leads to Pinedale arrest

A wild chase in Sublette County Wednesday ended with a sheriff’s deputy and his K9 companion being taken to medical treatment along with the 28-year-old driver involved.
At approximately 3:30 am, Sublette County Dispatch received a call about a person in a vehicle slumped over at the wheel in the parking lot at the Best Western in Pinedale. The reporting party also stated she had struck his vehicle. Sublette County deputies responded, located a car matching the description and found a female driver behind the wheel. She refused to exit the vehicle or speak with the deputies.

Instead, she shifted the vehicle into reverse, backed into a tree, and then drove out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed heading east. Deputies pursued the vehicle through town. Another Deputy at the south end of town coordinated a roadblock. As the pursuit drew near the roadblock, the woman accelerated and struck the rear driver’s side of the K9 Patrol vehicle.
After impact, she continued east, crossed into the west bound lane, and crashed into a boulder, eventually coming to rest in the parking lot at Ridley’s.
The driver, identified as Mariah Edwards of Pinedale, was arrested and booked into the Sublette County Detention Center for allegedly driving while under the influence, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, assault on a peace officer, eluding officers and not wearing a seatbelt. All were discharged from the medical clinic with no major injuries.
