Changes Ahead for Sled Dog Race

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, some changes have been made to the registration process for the 26th annual International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race. In a statement issued yesterday, Race Organizer Dan Carter said, “The changes we have instituted regarding our entry policies are designed to offer potential competitors the opportunity to begin planning for the 2021 race while minimizing any financial risk in doing so.” Among the changes, the first round of entries will be accepted by the end of the day September 1st in order to allow everyone a extra few weeks to monitor the COVID-19 situation. Additionally, entry fees will be refunded if the race is cancelled prior to the start of stage one, if a musher is not able to enter the United States because of border crossing restrictions related to COVID-19, if a musher tests positive for COVID-19 prior to the start of the race (but if they recover before the event, he/she will remain eligible to compete) and entry fees may be refunded if an entered musher cohabits with a person who tests positive for COVID-19. The race is scheduled to kick off in downtown Jackson January 29th, 2021,
