Cleveland rocked by Moose

February 14, 2021 by Jackson Hole Radio

It took a little while for the Moose to find their legs but once they did, they left Cleveland in a polar vortex. Jackson hit double digits both nights, defeating the Barons 10-3 and 10-6 for a weekend sweep at the Snow King Sports and Event Center.
It was Jackson’s blueliners that were the difference all weekend. The thunder and lightning pairing of Vincent Macri and Brad Improta paid huge dividends for coach Eric Ballard.
Macri enjoyed a 6-point weekend (1G, 5A), while Improta continues to play on another level. In fact, most of the Moose d-men are unafraid to step up, carry the puck, and create offensive chances when they get the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Kristian Ophus and Dustin Henning play shutdown defense on the back end.
Jackson’s pace continues to bewilder most visiting teams—especially those from sea level. The Moose especially take advantage of their opponents in the second period when the long change results in team’s being pinned in their own end, desperate for a whistle.
The Moose outscored Cleveland 5-1 and 4-1 in second periods last weekend.
Newcomer Mike Longo had a breakout weekend, notching 3 assists Friday to go with 2 goals and 3 helpers on Saturday. Ryan Glantz dominated Friday’s affair with a hat trick. He added 2 assists the following night. And Dakota Richardson was unstoppable. The unselfish forward racked up 3 goals and 4 assists over the two game homestand.
Brian Dolby picked up his first goal as a Moose. Teammates made sure to retrieve the puck for his trophy stand.
The Moose are now 5-1 on the COVID-shortened season. Their final weekend will be March 5-6 against Vermont.
