The Park County Sheriff’s Office responded to a search and rescue on Saturday for an injured climber. The two climbers involved had attempted to summit Granite Peak north of Cooke City and were descending the North face when they both lost footing in a snow field and slid into the rocks below. One of the climbers sustained leg injuries during the fall. Gallatin County Search and Rescue’s alpine rescue team was called in to assist and were able to rescue the injured subject and transfer him to a nearby Reach Air Medical helicopter which flew him to the hospital in Billings. There was no word on his condition.
