The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is asking for the public’s assistance in an investigation regarding the shooting of an adult female grizzly bear. The incident occurred on September 2, 2024, in Clark County, near Lower Shotgun Road in the Willow Creek drainage, west of Island Park Reservoir.
Grizzly bears are a protected species under both state and federal law, and there is currently no hunting season for grizzlies in Idaho. The IDFG is seeking any information from individuals who may have seen or heard something related to the incident.

Regional Conservation Officer Barry Cummings stressed the importance of public involvement in protecting wildlife, stating, “We rely on the public to help us protect their natural resources. No detail is too small.”
Anyone with information about the grizzly bear’s death is encouraged to contact the Upper Snake Regional Office at 208-525-7290, the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999, or submit a report online at the IDFG website. Callers can remain anonymous, and a reward is being offered for details leading to a citation.
