The COVID pandemic appears to be influencing incoming college students to put off their educations.
A new study shows that the number of eligible high school seniors in Idaho applying for financial aid has reduced by 12% and seniors in Wyoming by 7% in 2020 compared to 2019.
The reduction has worrying implications for colleges and their 2021 enrollment numbers, with many fearing a repeat of 2020’s “lost class” of freshmen.
TOP Data based their report on statistics from the current FAFSA report which shows America as a whole has seen an average reduction of 13.1% in financial aid applications.
Such a reduction in attendance would be a massive blow to the education industry, which already saw enrollment dip by 22% in 2020.
