Nine members of an Idaho Falls family, including the chief executives of Conrad-Bischoff Oil Company, died Saturday afternoon in the crash of their single engine plane as it was taking off in Chamberlain, South Dakota. Jim Hansen Sr. and his sons Kirk and Jim Jr. were among the nine who died in that crash. Here in Jackson, Conrad-Bischoff operates a long-established bulk distribution site near the intersection of Broadway and Wyoming Highway 22. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but witnesses say visibility during winter conditions was down to about a half mile. The pilot and two children also died in the crash. The Hansen’s were very active in community affairs in Idaho Falls.
