County and federal Law enforcement officers seeking a murder suspect in 2017 are accused of stopping the wrong car and holding a vacationing family at gunpoint for more than an hour.
In a lawsuit filed by the family last month, Brett and Genalyn Hemry, of Independence, Missouri, say they are victims of false arrest, excessive use of force and false imprisonment. Their lawsuit filed July 19th in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne seeks unspecified damages to be determined in a trial.
The officers were seeking Gerald Michael Bullinger, a Utah man suspected of killing his wife, his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s daughter in Idaho. A car Bullinger had been driving was spotted in Bridger-Teton National Forest outside Moran.
According to the lawsuit, the family of three was allegedly pulled over outside the east gate of Yellowstone and detained for an hour before identification was even requested. The lawsuit states that family was finally released with no apologies made.
