Central Wyoming College is offering active-shooter training June 17th, from 1:00 until 5:00 pm at the Jackson campus. The training is called A.L.I.C.E. which stands for Alert, Lockdown. Inform, Counter, Evacuate.
The goal is to prepare the participants to respond to an active shooter threat using techniques and practices demonstrated to improve a person’s survival odds significantly. This proactive approach is recommended by the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Department of Education, and many state and local law enforcement agencies.
In addition to teaching survival strategies, the training teaches active shooter mindsets, probabilities, statistics, and what to expect from law enforcement agencies during an event when they arrive on the scene. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a live active shooter drill to demonstrate the advantages of an option-based response versus a traditional lockdown.
Due to the experiential nature of the exercise, the training is limited to twenty-two participants and has specific clothing requirements. More information may be found at cwc.edu/jackson/
