Four Jackson Hole residents have been appointed to a special committee to study Chronic Wasting Disease in the state and develop recommendations to revise Game and Fish’s CWD management plan. Wyoming Game and Fish Department Director Brian Nesvik selected 32 people from a diverse range of backgrounds professions and interests across the state to make up the working group. CWD is now widely distributed throughout the state and is fatal to deer, elk and moose. Those from the valley include Dave Gustine of Moose, Jeff Daugherty of Jackson, Laura Meadows of Wilson, and Shane Moore of Jackson. The group will explore scientific, social, economic and policy information related to CWD and deer and elk management and ways to minimize CWD in these populations. The effort is being facilitated by the Ruckelshaus Institute, Haub School of Environmental and Natural Resources along with the University of Wyoming.
