Wyoming Senate President Dan Dockstader has filed as a candidate to run for Wyoming Secretary of State. Dockstader filed shortly after the current Secretary, Ed Buchanan, announced that he had decided not to seek re-election.
In Wyoming, the Secretary of State serves on the State Board of Land Commissioners, the State Building Commission, the State Loan and Investment Board, and also serves as the chair of the State Canvassing Board.
The Secretary of State’s Office is organized into five divisions: Administration Division, Business Division, Compliance Division, Election Division, and the Executive Offices. Dockstader served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2007-2008.
Dockstader represents Lincoln, Sublette and Teton Counties in the state senator, and has been in the Senate since 2009, most recently serving as Senate President since 2021. So far Dockstader is the only candidate to have filed for the position. The candidate filing period closes May 27th.
