As Independence Day approaches, local authorities are becoming increasingly concerned about potential fire outbreaks due to dry conditions and the use of fireworks and recreational fires.
Fireworks, sold in neighboring states are not permitted in Teton County, Wyoming, and use is limited in Teton County, Idaho. Both the Teton County, Wyoming and Idaho Sheriff’s Offices have the authority to cite individuals accordingly for violations of this law.
While Jackson’s fireworks show has been cancelled, those wishing to see a public display can drive over the pass to Driggs, Idaho where the official fireworks show on July 4th is set for 10:15 pm.
Teton County, Idaho, the cities of Tetonia, Driggs, and Victor along with the US Forest Service and Teton County Fire and Rescue urge all citizens and visitors to please take fire danger seriously and adhere to local guidelines.
Any person who sets off fireworks or starts a recreational fire that causes a wildfire can be held liable for suppression costs.
