Even as Teton County, Wyoming has been seeing a marked increase over the past week in COVID cases, the Eastern Idaho Public Health Department is concerned about the resurgence of COVID infections there and have issued a statement asking the community to take the actions necessary to slow the spread of the virus in the community.
While most of the increase has been seen in Bonneville County, there have been increases in other Eastern Idaho counties as well. In a news release over the weekend, EIPH stated, “We are nearing the Critical Risk Level again and our hospital system is experiencing an alarming number of admissions due to the virus. With a safe and effective vaccine available, it is heartbreaking and unnecessary to have this level of sickness and loss of life at this very late stage of the pandemic.”
The department is urging Eastern Idaho residents to follow the department guidelines which include wearing a face mask, observing social distancing and washing hands regularly. Above all, stay home if you are sick.
