Sharolyn “Shay” Jimerson, an entrepreneur and artist from the Wind River Indian Reservation, has had her logo design chosen to represent the Wind River Water & Buffalo Alliance. This coalition, which includes Tribal organizations, nonprofits, and university partners, works to advance conservation and protect the Indigenous way of life on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Jimerson’s design was selected from among 34 submissions in an open call for artists. Her logo features a sky-blue color scheme that weaves together the elements of water, buffalo, and teepees, symbolizing the interconnectedness of these elements with the home and the environment.

“This design held a special place for me,” Jimerson explained. “I wanted to emphasize the heart of home, surrounded by the buffalo and the water that sustains us all. It made sense to me to create a logo that represents the cycle between home, buffalo, and water.”
Jimerson, who works full-time in information technology, has always had a passion for the creative arts. Her heritage as a descendant of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and Seneca Nation influences both her technical and artistic endeavors. Living on the Wind River Indian Reservation, she draws inspiration from her surroundings and cultural roots.
“The Native American experience is never about just one world but always two,” Jimerson noted. “We honor our ancestors who fought before us, and we also hold the responsibility to keep our cultures strong as we navigate the modern world.”
The Wind River Water & Buffalo Alliance is committed to promoting a healthy environment, flourishing communities, and strong connections to the natural world, all rooted in reciprocity. Jimerson’s design will now serve as the visual representation of this mission.
